DECEMBER 29, 2023 - KEEP UP WITH STEPHANIE

I just wrapped up Miss Jackie‘s latest eight week challenge, and I thought I would share a few big takeaways from this one as it was my third. First, I know that I am a person who can be very stuck in her ways with regards to eating the right way.  I love French fries and chips and can easily choose to eat these everyday.  With this challenge, I purposed to give myself grace and if I did indulge in those kinds of foods, I made sure to add in another workout and then eat right the next meal and next day.  Eating every two to three hours isn’t something that culture promotes to get healthy but it really works!  The app she uses to track meals is super helpful with this reminder.  Jackie sees everything!  Second, I really tried to move every single day. The challenge reminded me to do this.  I would do the extra exercises she posted and have incorporated them into my daily activities.  I work in an office and have been caught doing pushups and crunches!  If not with a workout, then a walk/jog for at least 30 mins.  I lost 13 pounds and have kept it off now.  These new “habits” took a good 8 weeks to become second nature.  My body actually “asks” for a piece of fruit at 10am now.

I love to run, eat rich food and drink wine but all these things don’t build muscle or make you strong and this is what I wanted to be.  I met Jackie about 10 years ago and started working hard to make my body strong. My journey has ebbed and flowed over the years due to injuries and recovering from surgeries and she has been there to bring me back safely and get strong again.  7 months ago I had a hysterectomy and the doctor damaged my femoral nerve rendering me unable to walk for 4 months.

Jackie was there to encourage me and make modifications so I could still workout.  Her motto is “Trust the Process”.  She reminded me to do this and encouraged me to stay the course.  Today, I am able to walk and can do most of the exercises she schedules for the class.  Just recently I completed one of her 8 week challenges.  This meant for 8 whole weeks I had to follow her food recommendations, work out and not drink wine.  While the first 2 were relatively simply to accomplish, cutting out wine was a drag.  But I did it and lost inches!  INCHES!  I have carried this kind of eating into my day to day as well as working out and watching the wine.  Lastly, when I signed up for the Zoom classes I was a little skeptical that she would be able to really coach me and make modifications if needed.  I was never more surprised!  She watches so intently that even if I stop for one second, she is encouraging me to keep going.  Jackie has taught me to “Trust the Process” about getting and staying healthy and strong.
